Introduction to talismanic macramé

The beginning of the practice. One day. Your first talisman.

The shape of the day

Three hours, three movements.

First, we arrive. A few quiet minutes to land — to leave the day at the door and come into the room, the body, the hands.

Then, the knots. The tension, the rhythm, the feel of cord between the fingers. No intention yet, only technique. By the end of this hour, your hands know what to do.

Then, the making. The piece begins. As the hands settle into the work, the mind settles with them. A question enters the room. You answer it or you don’t — the knot keeps moving either way.

Last, the completion. The piece becomes a talisman. We close with space for what surfaced. You leave with something you can hold.

What you need to know

No experience needed. The first hour teaches you everything.

Small groups, six to eight people. A spread of stones and colors to choose from — all materials provided. You leave with your finished talisman and the knots in your hands.

the threshold

Choose the stone. Find the color.

Every labyrinth has an entrance. This is yours. The first act of the practice is choosing — the stone that wants to come with you, the color your hand reaches toward. You make something for yourself, and the choosing is already the work. The deeper turns, and the stones that meet them, come later.
